How Puppy.tips Researches and Updates Pages
Last updated: 2026-10-31
Puppy.tips publishes practical guides on puppy training, food, gear, and health. This page explains how we research and update that material.
We are not veterinarians. The guides on this site are for educational purposes only. They are not a substitute for a veterinarian. Always consult a licensed veterinarian for medical or health advice.
Research and citations#
When we write or update a health, nutrition, or calculator page, we check the claim against the primary sources on our Sources page. Those sources include the Merck Veterinary Manual, the AVMA, AAHA, WSAVA, VCA Animal Hospitals, the Cornell College of Veterinary Medicine, and the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine.
We are working to add links to these sources on our health and nutrition articles. We recheck the claim against its source when we update the page.
Dates#
A page that has been updated shows an updated date. If a source changes its guidance, we revise the page and change that date.
Calculators#
The puppy weight calculator and the breed growth charts estimate adult size from average growth data. Individual puppies vary. Check with your vet. We don’t give it an accuracy percentage, because the growth data behind it doesn’t support one.
